Tax preparation classes

Spearfish – IRS certified volunteers will be providing free tax preparation for low-income , basic income tax returns 2-7 p.m. every Monday and Wednesday, February 27th through March 29th in the Jonas Computer Room 205 on the BHSU campus. There will be no classes March 6th and 8th. No appointments are needed. Gross income must be under $54,000. For any questions, call Robin Meyerink at 642-6002.

Community Lenten Lunch

Spearfish – The soup and sandwich community Lenten lunches will be at noon on Wednesdays at the Spearfish United Methodist Church located at 845 North Fifth Street. The schedule as follows: March 8th – program and lunch by United Methodist Church: March 15th- program and lunch by Our Savior’s Lutheran Church: March 22nd – program and lunch by St. Joseph’s Catholic Church: March 29th – program and lunch by United Church of Christ: April 5th – program and lunch by All Angels Episcopal Church. Monetary donations or food for the Spearfish Community Food Pantry will be taken at the door.

CASA Training

March 22 Application Deadline

Spearfish – Those interested in volunteering for the Northern Hills CASA (Court Appointed Special Advocate) Program are invited to apply for training which runs from 6-9 p.m. Tuesdays and Thursdays from March 28th – April 13th in Spearfish. Applications are available at www.nhcasa.org and are due by March 22nd. The program serves the Fourth Judicial Circuit, providing advocacy for children in Butte, Meade, Lawrence, Perkins, Harding ,Corson, Ziebach, and Dewey counties and promotes and protects “the best interests of abused and neglected children involved in court proceedings through the advocacy efforts of trained volunteers.”

Description  – In its 68th season, the National Players present Shakespeare’s classic, “Hamlet,” for one night only, 7:30 p.m., Wednesday, Apr. 5. In “Hamlet,” the prince of Denmark returns home from school to find his family life in ruins, his father dead, his mother remarried, and his uncle (now stepfather) ruling the country. When his father’s ghost appears with dire announcements, Hamlet struggles to redefine his life and find his way forward. This Subscription Series event replaces the canceled Mar. 24 performance of “Mother King.” All subscribers have seats at this event. Individual tickets are available for $25 adults, $10 youth and BHSU Student.
